Fulton Market has quickly become one of Chicago’s most desirable neighborhoods. Historically a wholesale produce and meatpacking district, the West Loop has transformed into the new hot spot for high-tech companies like Google and Facebook, in addition to restaurants, retailers, hotels and startup businesses. The growing demand for development in these areas has led to an increased demand for more accurate and detailed projections to aid in all phases of large scale projects. Helios Visions is utilizing advances in technology to provide many services that can improve the accuracy of project planning and implementation.
Dave Gamperl, the property owner and longtime investor in the area, hired Helios Visions to provide projections for a new development in Fulton Market using aerial photography. High Street Residential, a real estate development firm in the Chicago area, is planning to build an 19-story luxury apartment tower at 1375 W. Fulton Market and Ogden Avenue. A huge investment into Chicago’s west side, this high-rise would house 300 apartments, in addition to a rooftop deck, parking garage, and large retail space. In a September issue of Crain’s Chicago Business, Gamperl explains that, “Some laughed at me and said that Fulton and Ogden was ‘over there’ on the other end of the action, but I always said it was the gateway to the Fulton Market district from the west. Now, Trammel Crow is solidifying that belief and making a bold investment in that gateway.”
Helios Visions was tasked with capturing views of the future development and the surrounding area from many views, including what will be the 19th floor. These images were used to sell the property and also used for project progress monitoring.
Gamperl says, “Helios Visions Aerial Photography and 360 Panorama helped my buyer understand and capture the true value of my property, by literally seeing the 360 panoramic views and future unit views for the 19 story development. I believe without shooting the aerial video and aerial still shots I would not have yielded the $18 million-plus sale price, today this is truly a dynamic and necessary tool to sell real estate”

360° panorama
The 360° panorama provides an incredibly realistic preview of the city from the 19th floor of the soon to be built tower. This allows potential buyers the opportunity to view the city from their condo before building even commences, without ever visiting the site. Images can be viewed on a mobile phone, desktop and in virtual reality.
